John Lowe
Co-FounderBio
Starting at the young age of ten, John Lowe was fascinated with building. As he describes it, “Growing up, my Legos were the wood scraps I found in our garage woodshop. I was always building something.”
John is a licensed residential general contractor in Jefferson County, Colorado as well as a licensed architect in the state with three decades of experience. For many years after designing a project and handing the plans over to other general contractors, John found the translation between the architectural design and the execution was lost. He decided there was a solution – to not only design the project, but to begin building them for his clients as well. Clear Creek Builders was a natural evolution.
Raised in Florida where he watched rocket launches from his front yard (his dad worked in the space industry), John came to Colorado in 1995. He is an avid fly fisherman, always looking for gold medal waters, loves to ski and hikes the local trails around Evergreen, CO.

Partners with John – personally and professionally – Lisa Lowe has been a practicing licensed architect for more than three decades. She is a registered architect in the states of Colorado and Michigan.
Adding general contracting to the mix was a natural progression for her. “I wanted to be able to transform my client’s ideas into a reality through construction. I didn’t want anything to be lost in the translation between the architectural design and building phases.”
Raised in New Orleans, Lisa grew up thinking that every city had music playing in the streets. “For every season there was a festival.” As you might imagine, she discovered otherwise. In her youth, when vacation time rolled around, Colorado was the family destination of choice. The mountains, with their scenery and access to nature, continued to call to her so after graduate school, she made Colorado her home.
Lisa enjoys the challenge of gardening at 7,400 feet above sea level, painting, hiking, and salvaging and refinishing furniture.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does design/build mean?
It means that your home is designed and built by one team. You work with one resource that manages and contracts out the services needed to complete the project.
Clear Creek Builders is the only Colorado company that provides you with the services of an architect to design your home and a general contractor to manage the execution of that design. We partner with a team of trusted sub-contractors who have worked with us on numerous projects over the years.
You have a busy life and the last thing you want to worry about is home construction. To ensure a smooth experience, Clear Creek takes care of every step – keeping you informed along the way.
Should I renovate or build from scratch?
If you’ve been in your home for twenty years or more, your tastes and your lifestyle have probably changed. Therefore, you may be ready for an update that reflects how you live today.
Before you decide, ask yourself these questions:
1. Do you want to stay in your home during the renovation? If you need to move out, that’s going to be an added expense to consider in your budget.
2. What’s the scope of your project? Do you want a complete overhaul or are you focusing on remodeling one or two rooms?
3. Will you need to bring you home up to date with current codes? Building codes may have changed since you bought your home. If new or additional requirements are now in effect you may have the expense of bringing your home up to code.
Your location, your living situation, codes, and the scope of your project all affect your budget. Compare that with the cost of purchasing land and building from scratch and you’ll likely come up with the answer to your question.
What is cost plus vs. fixed fee?
When entering into an agreement to build or remodel a home, there are two types of construction contracts: Cost-plus or fixed fee.
A cost-plus contract means you are going to be invoiced for the actual cost of your home project (i.e., labor and materials) plus an additional fee designated as overhead and profit.
A fixed fee contract, as the name implies, is an agreement to build your home at a fixed price which includes all costs and profit.
There are advantages and dis-advantages to each approach. The fixed fee contract generally includes a large contingency factor to cover unseen costs in a project. This can artificially increase your costs. The contractor keeps any cost savings earned during construction.
The cost-plus contract is more transparent. As the owner you will see all the sub-contractor invoices, so you’ll know where they stand within your construction budget.
