Sustainable Building Concepts

Clear Creek Builders is dedicated to bringing sustainability to each project through a variety of ways, including site design, resource conservation, improved indoor air quality, waste management and homeowner education.

Site Design

In new builds, sustainable site design means positioning the structure so natural lighting and airflow are efficiently utilized as well as minimizing site disturbances, controlling run off and minimizing the destruction of the existing environment.

Resource Conservation

Energy efficiency is integral to every project. We follow the International Energy Conservation Code and the Department of Energy guidelines wherever possible in renovation projects. We use high efficiency heating and cooling equipment and encourage Owners to buy energy star rated appliances and install LED lights throughout your home. To further conserve, we try to use products and finishes that are locally sourced/manufactured reducing carbon emissions.

Improved Indoor Air Quality

Specifying materials and finishes that are certified low VOC and low formaldehyde or formaldehyde free are essential to improving the indoor air quality. Ensuring your house is properly sealed and HVAC and ventilation systems are correctly sized, efficient and in well maintained are also important to ensuring an high quality indoor environment.

Waste Management

The most difficult challenge in creating sustainable projects is the management of construction and demolition waste. Donating, recycling and reusing materials when possible greatly reduces a projects contribution to local landfills. We recycle cardboard and packaging and donate demolished items such as doors, trim, cabinets and wood flooring whenever possible.

Homeowner Education

Understanding how your home functions is key to sustainability. Your heating and cooling systems need to function properly and be maintained for peak efficiency. Learn and participate in your neighborhood recycling programs. Help control pollution in your home by purchasing items such as furniture and carpets with low VOC content.
